Privacy Policy — SpotIt Parks

This privacy policy covers the mobile application SpotIt Parks (also
referred to as "SpotIt" or "the app"), published on the Google Play Store and
Apple App Store under the application id com.abcspotit.parks by
Baobab Technologies ("we", "us", "the developer"). It applies to every
park edition inside the app (SpotIt Kruger, SpotIt Yellowstone, and all
others — they are the same application).

SpotIt Parks is an offline-first wildlife-sighting app. It is built to work
without an account and without collecting anything about you. This policy
explains, in plain language, exactly what the app does and does not do with
data.

The short version

• No accounts. No sign-up. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, or any
  other identifying detail.

• No personal data is collected. We hold no profile of you, and we cannot identify
  you from anything the app stores.

• Your data lives on your device. Sightings, photos, notes, trips and settings are
  stored locally on your phone.

• Location is anonymous and only linked to the animal you sighted — never to you. A
  GPS point exists only to answer "where was this animal seen," not "where were you."

• No ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics.

What the app stores on your device

When you log a sighting, the app records the animal (species), the time, and — if
location permission is granted — the GPS coordinate of the sighting. You may also add
your own photos and notes. All of this is kept in a local database on your phone and is
under your control. Delete the app and it is gone.

Maps are downloaded per park for offline use, so the core app never needs a network
connection while you are out in a park.

Location

• Location is captured only for a sighting (and, if you switch them on, for optional
  foreground features like the route breadcrumb or auto check-in at camps/gates — and,
  when the app is projected to a car screen via Android Auto, for the same sighting
  logging there).

• Each coordinate is stored as an attribute of the sighted animal — species, time,
  place. It is not attached to any identity, account, or device profile that could
  identify you.

• You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your phone's settings; the
  app still works and simply records the sighting without a coordinate.

Anonymous usage statistics (optional, first-party)

To understand which features are used and to keep the app working well, the app can
send one small, anonymous summary per device per day to our own servers — simple
counters (for example, how many sightings were logged, which screens were opened) plus
coarse technical context: connectivity type, app version, operating system, and device
model. These are aggregate counters tied only to the same random anonymous
identifier described above — no names, no raw locations, no event streams, and no
third-party analytics services of any kind.

You can turn this off at any time in Settings → "Share anonymous usage data".

What we never do

• We never collect personal or contact information.

• We never sell or share data with advertisers or data brokers.

• We include no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

• We never link a location to a person.

Your control

Because your data is stored on your device, you are in control:

• Export a backup file at any time from Settings.

• Delete individual sightings, or delete the app to remove everything local.
